Why is Pilates Great for Dancers?
At FLEET, we know that great dancers aren’t just built in the studio —-> they’re built from the inside out. That’s why we’ve added Pilates to our training model, creating a holistic approach that strengthens both body and mind. Pilates has long been used by elite dancers and athletes because it develops the kind of strength you can’t always see, but you can absolutely feel: stability, control, and precision.
For dancers, Pilates does more than build muscle. It teaches the body how to move efficiently. Through targeted exercises, dancers learn to activate their deep core, improve posture, lengthen tight muscles, and correct imbalances that can lead to injury. The result? Hi, my name is Mia! As a Dancer have seen firsthand how Pilates has transformed not only my strength but also the way I move and perform. Training in both mat and reformer, I quickly realized that Pilates gave me the tools to feel more supported, more powerful, and more in tune with my body as a dancer.
That’s why I’m so excited to bring Pilates to the FLEET community. My passion is helping dancers build confidence through intentional movement, while improving alignment, strength, and flexibility. I believe Pilates is more than cross-training it’s a pathway to unlocking artistry and protecting the body for long-term growth.
I can’t wait to coach you here at FLEET and share the same practices that continue to elevate my own dancing and overall wellness.
